This guy needs to die. Now.
And thus begins the new arc that's already brimming with rageworthy content. The most notable event in the episode is none other than the introduction of Sugō Nobuyuki, arguably the creepiest person yet. Yes, this creeper manages to make even Kuradeel look sane. I'm quite certain that almost anyone would be disgusted by this man's actions. Not only that, but his physical features also exude the aura of a stalker/pedophile type of character; the typical well-mannered, glasses-wearing, intelligent young man look has often been cover for a person's darker side in anime. Just like how Kirito had to deal with Kayaba Akihiko in SAO, something tells me Sugō Nobuyuki will be the main antagonist in the VRMMORPG that is to come.
But before that, the imōto/cousin got some decent exposure. I'm not sure what the point of showing her character was, but I really hope SAO doesn't go down the (w)incest route. That said, maybe her introduction serves as foreshadowing of her future involvement in the new VRMMORPG. Suguha certainly loves Kirito a lot and would probably like nothing more than for him to forget about Asuna. But given that Asuna continues to remain detached from the real world, it's just a matter of time before Kirito goes in after her, leaving Suguha all alone once again. Maybe this time, instead of waiting around for her beloved to wake from his slumber, she will take the offensive and follow him into the game. It'd make for an interesting love triangle even though it's already been set from the start that Kirito x Asuna is the OTP of the series.
So now the question is, how long will this arc last? Knowing that there's yet another VRMMORPG after this one, will it be shorter than SAO was so that the third can be crammed into the season before the show ends? Or will there be another season given the large amount of success the series has thus far? Regardless of what will happen, I look forward to seeing how this arc fares in comparison to the amazing SAO arc.
