Jormungand - Episode 14

Decision time!

That last order from Bookman to R alone sent chills down my spine and really pumped me up for what is to come. Torn by his loyalty (to a certain extent) for both parties, R will undoubtedly struggle with having to make a decision soon. Act as clueless as she might, but I think Koko already knows all about R's relation with Bookman. And given that he's been spending so much time alongside her, R should also know this too. Nonetheless, in the field of arms dealing, deception is key and it's not uncommon for people to hide their true knowledge, playing the role of ignorant individual instead. It's only the beginning of the second season, but both Hex and Bookman appear to be extremely elite opponents.

In all likelihood, R's decision in the next episode will determine the outcome of the clash. Should he choose to favour the good side, Bookman will have lost his right-hand man, severely handicapping him. But on the other hand, should R follow his longtime friend's order, the possible injury/death of Jonah will undoubtedly create shockwaves within HCLI. However, the mystery here is what Koko is capable of if the latter were to happen. As pointed out to her before, she's becoming more and more of a monster with the passing missions. With the loss of someone precious at the hands of one's enemy, a normal human, let alone an unpredictable beast, would no doubt be consumed with rage. And since Koko has shown sadistic tendencies before, who knows what she's capable of doing if Jonah were to be subject to danger.

So, if R wants to increase his chances of survival, he'd be smart in siding with Koko. Although he stated that he'd never betray Bookman, desperate times might call for desperate measures. Obviously, I predict he's going to try and please both parties at first, but that's certainly going to end up failing due to conflict of interest. Well then, the next episode ought to be interesting (and bloody).
