Sword Art Online - Episode 7

It looks like Asuna has some competition now.

Out of all the side stories so far, this one takes the cake, just edging out Silica's by a little bit. With its fair share of comedic and heart-wrenching moments—kind of like a combination of Episode 3 and Episode 4—I felt the balance achieved between the two was excellent. Liz is a character I would definitely like to see again in the future; she brings to the table a likeable personality and the common (and easy to relate to) difficulties that come with a one-sided love—especially one that involves a close friend as a rival. Fortunately for her, Kirito showed that he wasn't your typical, oblivious male protagonist and managed to soothe the pain in her heart, even if only slightly.

As for the fight with the crystal dragon, although it wasn't really that intense despite the tough appearance of the creature, it paled in comparison to the first boss fight in Episode 2. With that said, the main focus of the episode wasn't on the battle so I guess I can't count the lacklustre clash against it. And while I've seen many people complain about the ugliness of the CG dragon, I personally thought it looked really nice (or maybe it's just that I'm a fan of CG graphics).

Now that Kirito has gotten a new sword (made for him by Liz with all her heart and soul <3), I wonder what he's going to do with his old one. He didn't explicitly say whether it was better than his current one; just that it's a "good sword", which actually says a lot considering he broke Liz's previous "best sword". Personally, I like the look of Liz's sword better than his current one, but given that the Elucidator is apparently overpowered, I think Kirito will stick with his current sword and use Liz's as a backup.
