Jormungand - Episode 6
With an episode title like "African Golden Butterflies" I didn't expect it to be as intense as it was, particularly near the end. It didn't help that Doctor Miami was someone who's so carefree and has such childlike innocence. It's almost like her character doesn't fit into the show. I mean, this is a show about the business of arms dealers; trickery and deception are what's expected. However, I do hope that there ends up being more to her than meets the eye and that she's not just a doctor who's obsessed with butterflies.
The introduction of Mr. Chen and his bodyguard/right-hand woman already hinted at another Orchestra-like confrontation. The old man of Taiwanese descent barely talks so it's hard to say anything about him except that he's very suspicious. He's probably someone who schemes behind the scenes and lets his subordinates carry out his plan while he sits back and watches. Karen, on the other hand, does all the talking with her hands and feet. Apparently a ruthless killer, she compliments her employer (assuming she's paid) well. The two together make a formidable antagonist duo. It looks like this will be a tough test for Koko and co.
What's more is that Valmet's past seems to be indirectly related to Karen (or the way she holds her weapons). More specifically, on the day she lost her right eye, a mysterious man could be seen standing in the same way as Karen was after she suddenly killed one of her comrades. A wild guess would be that the mystery man was a younger version of Mr. Chen, or possibly his son. Even more generally, he could just be a member of the Daxinghai Company. Whatever the case may be, the fact of the matter now is that Valmet has snapped. It'll be interesting to see how her insane mode will affect the outcome of this confrontation.
I couldn't really grab anything from the preview except for the possibility of a new character being introduced next week. From looks, and looks alone, I'm guessing she's going to be one of those airheaded characters. Who she's affiliated with is not yet known, though. What I want the next episode to consist of is the conversation over dinner between Chen and Koko. I'm willing to bet that it'll be very entertaining, given both parties' conversational skills.
