Accel World - Episode 8

Lolis have never been so scary...

"俺の妹がこんなに可愛いわけがない"
That was undeniably the best line of the episode. A blatant reference to a great series that's getting a second season soon.

Back to Accel World, this episode introduced the Red King, known as Scarlet Rain, or "creepy loli" as I call her. Now, we know that Kuroyukihime, the Black King, is not on good terms with anyone in the Accelerated World, especially those of the Red Legion, after her treacherous actions that involved the beheading of the former Red King. And so, one can expect the inevitable meeting between the leader of the Nega Nebulous and the new Red King to be more than just a simple clash. I think only an action-packed battle, along with excellent dialogue, will be able to do justice to the animosity between the two girls who represent their respective colours.

But before that can happen, more information about Scarlet Rain must be shown first. This is where this episode comes in. First off, it can be seen that she is deceptive, as shown through her "little sister" act before Haruyuki caught on to her true intentions. Secondly, in the Accelerated World, her power as a King is displayed after she manages to easily take out Silver Crow without suffering any damage. With these two facts established, it can be concluded that she's going to be a tough opponent for Kuroyukihime.

However, let's not forget that Haruyuki is also involved in this. Standing as the middleman in this fierce and hostile situation, there's definitely a chance for him to prove his worth to both himself and the Level 9s. His desire to become faster and stronger has recently been the driving force in his training. To be able to accelerate faster and to fly higher than anyone else—that is what Haruyuki is bent on achieving, with situations like these testing him and helping him grow along the way. In the end, it may just come down to a battle between Haruyuki and Kuroyukihime for the right to become a Level 10. And if that time comes, I have no doubts that there's going to be conflict given that Haruyuki has just sworn to never fight against his Parent, while Kuroyukihime probably wants the best for her Child, also the one whom she loves. But until then, the Kings of the other Legions come first—more specifically, Scarlet Rain.
