Sankarea - Episode 8
And with that, Ranko's chances have all but gone down the drain. An episode overloaded with Chihiro x Rea moments is already enough to give viewers an idea of how this will end. Even without that, the premise doesn't offer any alternative than a human x zombie ending, either. I guess airing this episode was akin to rubbing salt in the wounds of Chihiro x Ranko supporters. On the other hand, Rea fans were served with many nosebleed-inducing shots, including a unexpected "no pantsu" scene, as well as some zombie fighting. And to top it all off was a nice plot twist which I didn't expect.
Now that Chihiro is on his way to meet the creepiest man in town, one must wonder what will happen to him after the encounter. Knowing Danichirō's obsession with his daughter, he must be anxiously waiting to take his revenge on the boy who essentially took everything away from him. His disturbing "freedom" speech made me even more worried about Rea as I don't think I'd be able to continue watching if she ends up back in her father's hands. So all I can do now is hope—hope that Chihiro somehow makes it out of there alive (possibly with Rea's assistance). What would be even better is if Rea's able to return the favour by humiliating her father, assuming she chases after Chihiro.
Judging solely from the preview title (Mom's... Hand...), I think Chihiro and Mero's mother will be mentioned in the episode, even if just for a bit. I'm curious to see if the time when she was alive is expanded on and, if so, how it contributed to the Furuya children's lives. And, as always, decent Rea screentime is appreciated.
