Jormungand - Episode 20

Dat face~

I do realize that the build up to the "big event" in the near future is necessary to increase suspense and tension, but I can't help but express how I bored I was with this episode. True, the dialogue was essential in giving viewers a sense of what was to come, but like I have said many times before, I don't believe Jormungand is the type of show that one watches for an intricate storyline or complex character conversations. Instead, episodes like this one are what generally haul in positive responses as far as I can tell. Nonetheless, this episode was successfully able to get me curious as to what happens the next. The return of a bunch of old faces was a plus as time-wasting introductions aren't necessary this time around, allowing for more plot-focused development.

Onto some predictions now. First off, the direction the story is going in now makes me think that this might be the final arc of the series; the gathering of all the characters from past episodes near the end of the story, along with the everyday faces, is not uncommon in anime. The idea of the "Hek-GG" appears to be the focus of the imminent conflict between the parties involved. Following that, I expect there to be quite a few upcoming twists—from valuable HCLI members being killed off to the group itself actually facing difficulties at the hands of their opposition (let's be honest here, all the enemies of the past were far from what one would call "worthy"). Finally, for the show's final showdown, I'd love to see Koko vs. Jonah. It'd definitely make for a great battle—probably more so in terms of dialogue—since Jonah is probably still struggling with his own ideals regarding whether he should side with Koko (the one whom he has spent so much time with and got to know) or not (she's also an arms dealer—the type of people who were responsible for the deaths of his parents).
