Tasogare Otome x Amnesia - Episode 9
Another great episode to follow up the last. And while everything seemed to be going well at first, it wasn't surprising when Shadow Yūko intervened, flipping everything upside down. The impact of the shadow's appearance was effectively increased since the audience was first given a look at how great of a couple Teiichi and Yūko are, and how it seemed like Yūko was starting to accept the negative emotions that she was obtaining (i.e. anger, sadness, embarrassment, etc.). Even though Shadow Yūko is supposedly the antagonist of the story, I couldn't help but feel slightly sorry for her, and admit that her words really hit hard on a psychological level.
Contrary to Teiichi's belief that Shadow Yūko is tormenting Yūko, the opposite might actually be true instead. Because Yūko keeps pushing on all the negative things about her onto the shadow, she is, in a way, forcing Shadow Yūko to carry these heavy burdens, while she herself gets to enjoy her time spent with Teiichi. Since the two are nearly identical beings, coupled with the fact that the recent memory dissociation included memories about Teiichi, it's not hard to believe that Shadow Yūko may also be in love with Teiichi. But rather than try to steal him away from her, Shadow Yūko decides to give Yūko a taste of what she has been going through all this time; the suffering, pain, and burdens she had to endure. The result? An enraged Teiichi who tries to physically stop the conflict between the ghost and the shadow. And then... the cliffhanger arrives.
The part that everyone has been waiting for is now within reach. In the next episode (assuming it picks up from where this one left off), Yūko's past (and possibly how she died) might very well be revealed. Many questions should be answered, while some new ones may also arise. Regardless, I expect next week's Tasogare Otome x Amnesia to be one of the better episodes of this series.
