Hyouka - Episode 6

It's the colours theme again.

Who would've thought the topic of "getting mad" can lead to such interesting conversations and, even better yet, a mini-mystery? True, although I would've liked a more plot-focused episode instead of a comedic, slice-of-life episode, I still found this one to be surprisingly entertaining, with Eru being a big reason why. The girl who is now coined in a few online communities as the "moe invasion of space" has time and time again shown how airheaded and cute she can be. It won't surprise me if she ends up making it into next year's ISML.

As for the mystery of why Eru got mad, its stupidity and simplicity were both disappointing and amusing at the same time. Nonetheless, I enjoyed being able to keep up with four this time around when it came to solving the mystery. Many of the suggestions that were introduced by the others had also come across my mind as well. Although the final solution was far from being mindblowing or unexpected, it was at least plausible as we still don't know whether that's the true reason why the math teacher mixed up the progress of the four classes. Still, if it ends up satisfying Eru, then I guess Hōtarō can rest easy for a while and prepare for the next "ki ni narimasu".

It seems that even Hyouka has the need to contain at least one fanservice episode (referring to the next episode preview). In this case, it's the classic onsen episode where convenient steam and accidental slips can make for a decent viewing experience for those who are into these kinds of episodes. In terms of plot progression, I'm almost certain there's going to be none; even a mystery doesn't seem possible or fitting. Regardless, it should be entertaining, at the least.
