Zetsuen no Tempest - Episode 7
Alright, I'll admit that this episode made me see Aika in a better light. However, this doesn't mean that I like her character. I still dislike her sadistic and deceptive personality, but I'm now more curious about what went on in her head while she was alive. There were many hints that she knew more than she let on—including the possibility that she had a feeling she was going to die—since she often iterates her belief that "everything happens for a reason". So this begs the question, just what reason does her death serve then? Bear with me as I explain my plausible but probably unlikely theory.
First off, the paradox of Hakaze's "skeleton" hasn't been solved yet. And as we know, Aika's killer is someone from the Kusaribe clan. So could it be possible that the skeleton is actually Aika's? Ignoring the vague rule that the Kusaribe clan's magic only works to protect the logic of the world, I think it's possible that some spell was cast on the skeleton so that it managed to make everyone, the non-mage Junichirō included, think that it belongs to Hakaze. And that's where this part of the story stands. Now whether this is true or not is yet to be known, but I personally think that, this way, Aika's character won't just be an afterthought in the story, and it'd make for a nice twist.
As the series nears its climax, three questions come to mind. Firstly, how will Junichirō factor into the final battle? He previously showed that he is much stronger and more capable than he looks. Secondly, it's been heavily implied as of late that Mahiro and Yoshino both know about the latter's relationship with Aika, although neither wants to bring the topic up at this crucial time. So when their clash with Samon comes to an end, will this issue be the curtain call of the series? Lastly, what state will the world be in after this is all over? Post-apocalyptic? Or perhaps everything will be returned to normal thanks to Hakaze, assuming she survives and is rescued, of course?
