Shin Sekai Yori - Episode 6

She's definitely high.

Aside from the trippy start with the hallucination-like rainbow world scene, this episode was surprisingly entertaining. Luckily, the artwork returned to pre-Episode 5 quality this time. Satoru regaining his Juryoku effectively showcased the common theme of the imminent corruption that comes with great power. In a sense, Satoru's desire to use his powers offensively in order to kill the enemy blinded him from his and Saki's true objective of returning to civilization. Furthermore, it is because of his determination to not run away that he is severely drained physically, and in the end, causing those around him to be vulnerable to the awaiting enemy horde. But then again, it's also understandable why might have chosen to walk this path instead of running away with Saki. Although he doesn't seem like someone who'd place others above himself too often, the fact that Squealer saved him and Saki might just be the reason why Satoru continued to fight; leaving the defenceless rats alone to die might have burdened him with too much guilt.

With that being said, a part of me suspects that Squealer and the rest of his colony aren't as innocent and weak as they look. Who knows, maybe they're actually working with the Ground Spiders to trap Satoru and Saki? Given the current situation—Satoru's exhausted and Saki is defenceless—this would be a grave turn of events if it was to actually happen. Now, even if I don't think as pessimistically, what now? Against a group numbering tens of thousands, I doubt our heroes will be able to fight the enemy head-on and somehow emerge victorious. And so, I'm anxious to see just how things will turn out now, especially since there's no preview this time.
