Shin Sekai Yori - Episode 4

I can't help but laugh... .__.

It looks like curiosity killed the cat. While the information itself might not seem like a big deal to those living in today's world, I do understand why it'd be such a big shock to those in the PK era. Think about it this way: You're living your life normally, when suddenly, someone essentially crushes all your ideals and views in a mere five minutes. The feeling of having been deceived and lied to your whole life is no trivial matter. As this episode was extremely dialogue-heavy, a second watch is probably recommended if one is unable to absorb all the information the first time through. For now, the five, who can't turn back now, will have to learn to cope with the horrors of this new knowledge. With their Juryoku sealed and the monk guy suffering from what seems to be "death feedback", it might not be long before they'll be left defenceless and alone in the wilderness filled with mysterious creatures.

However, we might not get to see the full extent of the consequences of talking to the false minoshiro as the preview showed glimpses of what looked to be grown-up versions of the main characters. Even so, a sense of panic still seems to surround the cast so I think it's safe to assume this event did end up causing them to struggle. Personally, I believe a timeskip at this time and in such a technical anime would only serve to confuse viewers even more. Nonetheless, it'll be interesting to see how the story will play out if it does go down this route.
