Accel World - Episode 21

Dinosaur > Pig

Well, this was an uneventful episode for the most part. A quick flashback to Taku's depressing past and the lead-up to the introduction of Rust Jigsaw were probably the only notable parts of the episode. I thought the talk about the whole Incarnate System and its different uses for augmentation of skills could've been done a little quicker. The maid—Blood Leopard—still remains mostly a mystery, even after her introduction. I did find her usage of netspeak (e.g. k, np) to be somewhat amusing. Hopefully, she'll play a bigger part in the confrontation with Rust Jigsaw, and not just be another random character who never shows up again after their initial appearance (e.g. Aqua Current, Sky Raker).

In a way, the preview was almost up to par with the entire episode in terms of notable content. The next episode (and probably the last two as well) will probably focus on Haruyuki and Taku's third (and hopefully final) attempt at defeating Nōmi. To make up for the advantage Dusk Taker had in their last fight in the form of Chiyu, Taku should have at least gotten the hang of the Incarnate System by the time the battle takes place. I'm interested in seeing how Chiyu handles the situation. Obviously, she doesn't want to see her two close friends get hurt, but given that Nōmi wants the exact opposite, just which side will she take? The lack of Kuroyukihime in this episode was disappointing, but I can't say I really want her to show up anytime soon, especially once the battle gets under way. It'd make more of an impact if Haruyuki and Taku defeat Nōmi by themselves since they're the ones who are at odds with him, and not Kuroyukihime. All in all, I expect the final fight to be one of epic proportions.
