TARI TARI - Episode 3

"I don't money!"

Slowly but surely, the new choir club is getting opportunities to prove themselves. Now with their group of five "real" members, and the new name of "Choir Club... and sometimes badminton", Konatsu and co. prepare for their first performance together. I think the recurring theme for each of the episodes is going to be about Konatsu's goal of working towards standing on the grandest stage, overshadowing her blunder at the last joint recital with a flawless one, this time with her new club members. And while that's going on, the side story added in this episode concerned Wakana's amusing encounters with the Spanish (?) foreigner. Throw in a language barrier, and hilarity ensues.

Now, I don't speak Spanish (or whatever language the man's speaking in), but judging from my past experiences with the Japanese and their addition of foreign languages in anime, it's either they paid someone to voice the guy or ended up butchering the language completely, which only people who speak it would notice, most of which aren't in Japan, watching this show. Nonetheless, seeing Wakana respond to the man's words with Engrish, thinking it was English, never ceased to amuse me. The way the foreigner didn't seem flustered at all, while probably knowing that his words meant nothing to his listener, was quite surprising. But although this comedic exchange seemed like it was just added for some laughs, it doesn't look like this will be the case, seeing as the man's pig is seen at the beach house where Konatsu and co. intend to perform at. I wonder what situation will arise when Wakana gets to the beach house, wanting to escape the man and find safety in her friends, but ends up realizing that the foreigner's there as well. Everything aside, the group's performance here is just the beginning of a long road ahead. Until Konatsu receives the approval of the vice-principal, who's still one mean lady, I'm sure that she'll never give up. But judging by her hesitance to answer the principal's inquiry on why she's so against Konatsu forming a new choir club, there's probably a reason for her cold attitude.

Preview shows that some drama will occur in the next episode. Whether it will affect the club's intentions to perform at the beach house is still unknown. But because of this possible conflict, I'm pretty sure the performance, if it ends up happening, will take place in Episode 4.

Call me slow or whatever, but I just realized that the following are similar, in terms of character design:
TARI TARI   Hanasaku Iroha
Miyamoto Konatsu=Matsumae Ohana
Sakai Wakana=Tsurugi Minko
Okita Sawa=Oshimizu Nako
Wien=Tanemura Kōichi
Tanaka Taichi=Miyagishi Tohru
