Jormungand - Episode 4
It only took a short, sound-muting gust of wind to get the viewers to start thinking about what Koko's true intentions are as an arms dealer. Given that Chinatsu has probably already seen the worst of the worst during the time she spent with the Orchestra leader, seeing her reaction to Koko's unknown words was surprising. Although Koko did tell Jonah previously that she sells weapons for world peace, I doubt that is the truth and that she only said so in order to put him at ease/gain his trust. Previously, Koko just seemed like a smart but airheaded woman who was lucky to have people to protect her. But now, I'm starting to think that she's more than meets the eye.
With the events that transpired in this episode, it may be the time to look at the origin of the series' name: Jormungand. Simply put, "Jormungand" can be translated as "World Snake" as it is a sea serpent so long that it can wrap around the Earth and grasp its own tail. While this is not particularly helpful in figuring out anything about the series, it does provide some insight on Koko's true nature. The connotation of the word "snake" is generally something along the lines of "deceptive" and "deadly". In Koko's case, this has stayed true for all her enemies, thus far. For Chinatsu, the uncovering of Koko's deceit (i.e. the reason she is an arms dealer) ended up becoming useless information in regards to overcoming the deceptive nature of the snake as the "venom" (i.e. sniper bullet) had already gotten the best of her.
If there is one person who's able to stand up against Koko, it would have to be Jonah since there is a high chance that he heard what Koko told Chinatsu because of his position during the conversation between the girls. It's uncertain how he will act now, assuming he did hear the explanation. However, it would be interesting to see Jonah oppose Koko in the final couple of episodes or so, if Koko's reason for being an arms dealer turns out to be far from his ideals.
As for the preview, it doesn't show much; just the usual firing of guns. I'm expecting more crafty operations lead by Koko in which she outsmarts her enemies once again. Looking forward to more Jormungand.
Also, R.I.P. Chinatsu...
