Senki Zesshou Symphogear - Episode 8
Wait... what happened to Miku? Where's the "I can't be your friend anymore" or "You lied to me so I'm not talking to you" attitude? It's like there was a random timeskip or the last episode never happened. Worst of all, there wasn't even an explanation as to why Miku said what she said. I find things like these hurt the believability and entertainment value of a show. The repetitiveness of the songs, not to mention how horrible-sounding they are, also pull down the ratings remarkably since one of the central themes in the series is music. Aside from Hibiki and Miku's restored friendship, the plot barely moved.
One thing I'd like to comment on is regarding the horrendous animation. Back in Episode 3, I hoped it was just a one-time mishap caused by the laziness of the animators, which should've theoretically been fixed by now given the multiple complaints I've seen about it on various forums. However, it turns out I was wrong as this episode provided not only one, but two scenes of noticeable animation faults. The first one (see screenshot) doesn't really need any explanation. The second one confirms that the animators have trouble with running/walking characters. When Hibiki was running towards the partially-destroyed building that Miku and the "Octo-Noise" were in, it seriously looked like she was bouncing forward with her legs moving in a scissor-like motion instead of actually running.
Right about now, you might be asking, "If you hate this show so much, why bother continuing to watch it/blog about it?" My answer to you would be: For continuity's sake and to see how many flaws I can pick out. And, who knows, maybe there'll still be some good songs and/or music pieces waiting in the last couple of episodes.
