Bakemonogatari or, in English, "Ghostory" or "Monstory", is another one of SHAFT's highly-praised animated works. Focusing on the aspect of supernatural beings, the story follows the life of ex-vampire Araragi Koyomi. Within the Monogatari series, or should I say "trilogy", Bakemonogatari is second. My first thought of picking this up came at the announcement of supercell and ClariS teaming up to do some of the music for Nisemonogatari, the sequel to Bakemonogatari, which is set to air in the Winter 2012 season. As an avid fan of both supercell and ClariS, I figured that I'd need to watch Bakemonogatari in order to watch and understand Nisemonogatari. Assuming the all the positive comments this series gets are legitimate, I will probably finish it. The "mystery" and "supernatural" genres are normally not my preference but it never hurts to try something new.
