THE iDOLM@STER - Episode 6
Episode Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (4/5)
And, finally, an episode (half-)centered around Miki appears. Though most of the focus was on the preparations and procedures that Ryuuguu Komachi, the parts where Miki shows that she's not as lazy as she seems was really enjoyable for me. The way she can memorize a dance routine after only seeing it once contrasted with her normally lazy behavior may lead some to label her as a "Lazy Genius". As for the members of Ryuugu Komachi, the idea of having the three idols who have a reference to water in their family name was a great idea but there are some flaws like Haruka being left out and Mami being separated from Ami. Lastly, I really wanted to see the dance that Makoto and Miki had to do; I think that I would've enjoyed it. Well, hoping to see more Miki and performances in the future.
A little bit more about Ryuuguu Komachi below (taken from UTW):
Ryuuguu Komachi (竜宮小町): literally means “Beauties from the Palace of the Dragon King.” Ryuuguu Castle itself is a reference to the underwater castle that appears in the folk tale of Urashima Tarou, which you can wiki for more information (including the ‘treasure box’ that shows up in Kotori’s daydream).
Minase (水瀬), Miura (三浦), Futami (双海): Chief mentions during an interview that the three Ryuuguu members’ family names involve water, which gave Ritsuko the idea to use name Ryuuguu Komachi. The characters in their family names mean, respectively: 水瀬 water shoal, 三浦 three inlet, and 双海 twin sea. Haruka, who was indignant at being left out, bears the family name Amami (天海), which uses the characters for heaven and sea.
To wrap things up, I'm glad there's going to be 25 episodes of THE iDOLM@STER according to FansubDB. This will hopefully allow all characters to have their time in the spotlight with extra episodes to spare. Can't wait for the next episode which I'm guessing focuses on Hibiki.
