A sunset in Paris |
Mostly the same old things with heartwarming scenes and Yune being moe. The meeting between Yune and Alice has been saved for the next episode which is, in a way, a relief. With the way things are going now, I'm expecting more or so the same with the ending being Yune getting her kimono back or the three main characters heading to Japan. With not much plot development, my guesses are obviously inaccurate as there is no evidence to back it up. Although I wouldn't be surprised if the aforementioned events do happen. As for next week, hopefully Alice isn't too much of a spoiled and ignorant brat.
On another bright, sunny day in Paris, Yune continues her maid work by ironing while Oscar watches over her. When Claude walks in, the conversation topic slowly beings to revolve around Japan, a place that he never saw before. For Yune and Claude, both of whom have been to Japan, their descriptions of the surroundings seemed extremely weird to the French blacksmith. The result of this is Claude thinking about how horrible of a place Japan must be; from tiny, fragile furniture to sleeping on hay, everything seemed unreal. He then walks out of the room to return to his work, expressing his feelings to the two. Back in his workroom, the paper with sign designs littered on the floor indicates that Claude is struggling to come up with a good design. Shortly after, Oscar walks in followed by Yune who apparently found a set of Japanese dishware. While admiring the tiny cup used to drink sake from, Claude firmly rejects Oscar's idea of them moving to Japan if they ever go out of business, stating that he won't allow that to happen. Meanwhile, at the Blanche mansion, Alice admires the kimono (Yune's kimono) that her sister had bought for her birthday. However, she complains that her father has given her the Galerie du Roy as his present, saying how rotten and useless it is. But when her sister tells the loud brat that she bought the kimono at the so-called "rotten" place, Alice quiets down and questions whether such a fancy store in the Galerie du Roy can actually exist.
Back at the Enseignes du Roy, Claude tells Yune take a break and the two sit down for drinks. During their conversation, Yune reveals that she has always admired Paris and that she personally asked Oscar to bring her here. Coincidentally, the old man happens to be walking by and enters the room after hearing their conversation, bringing with him some new food that he wanted to let Yune try. It turned out to be some pastry called baba. With some help from Claude, Yune takes a spoon of the dessert and, after eating it, starts crying tears of joy. Then, she asks Oscar for the paper that was used to wrap the paper and makes a paper crane out of it. Later in the day, after Claude still can't come up with a design, he goes to see what Yune is doing and finds out that she is writing a letter to her sister in Japanese. With the topic of writing Japanese now being the focus, Claude asks Yune how she writes her name. After she does so, she explains that Japanese people like the sounds of nature, with her name meaning "the sound of hot water" while her sister's name, Shione, is "the sound of an ebbing tide". Knowing this, Claude goes back to his work room and, after a bit more thinking, finally decides on a design for a sign.
The next day, while Claude works, Oscar is out with another lady he picked up. This time, he tries to impress her with a paper crane, obviously learning it from Yune. After long hours of working, Claude emerges from the workroom and shows Yune the finished piece which turns out to be "音", the "ne" from Yune's name in Japanese. He then goes out to sell the sign, leaving Yune to watch the store. Along the way, Claude sees that many of the shops in the Galerie du Roy have closed, evoking a sense of disgust inside him. After successfully selling the sign, he sees Oscar and tells him to go back to the store since Yune is alone there while he goes to buy something. Meanwhile, Yune sees a cat outside the store and struggles with whether she should play with it or not since she was given an order to watch the store. Unfortunately, the rain starts pouring and the cat walks away just as Oscar returns. The old man accidentally tells Yune that Claude is going to buy paper for her, causing the young girl to run inside the store to grab an umbrella before going out to find Claude. At the store Claude is at, the employee there helps him choose which type of paper to buy. After the purchase, Claude exits the store and sees the rain. Instead of waiting for it to stop, he decides to try and make it back by running. However, he sees Yune after he starts running and goes over to her instead. As the two share an umbrella under the rain, Claude decides to take a detour before they head home. Along the way, the rain stops and the clouds disperse, revealing a beautiful sunset. A great ending to another heartwarming episode. The scene after the ED shows Alice once again, this time, after learning of Yune's existence, demands that her butler go and find "Japonaise-san" so the two can have tea. I have a bad feeling about it even though it's just tea. The preview doesn't help either as it seems like Alice brags about the kimono to Yune who struggles to keep her sadness from showing. Looking forward to the next episode.
