Amagami SS+ - Episode 6
The Ai arc comes to an end on a heartwarming note. Everything was more or less predictable, and at times cheesy, but overall, I really enjoyed this arc; my favorite of the three, thus far. It's good to see Junichi actually taking the lead in the relationship (unlike with Tsukasa). Furthermore, I was surprised at how he didn't say/do anything perverted (I'll give him the benefit of the doubt regarding the love hotel incident) throughout the episode. At the conclusion of this arc, it starting to seem like the format for each arc is SS+ is going to consist of an episode with a problem followed by an episode where it's solved. Like I noted before, I personally would like for the events in the arcs to be less obvious.
I found Ai's character to be fleshed out quite well in this episode. The build-up towards the moment when Junichi suddenly shows up was done to allow the audience to feel for her and sympathize with her. The tears from the pain of the loneliness made her emotions all the more real. However, it's understandable that some may argue that she is exaggerating too much. Personally, I think her actions before Junichi shows up are a testament of her love for him and desire to be with him. And when he did show up, I couldn't help but grin, knowing that Ai would be able to spend her Christmas Eve with a smile on her face.
The early guess on the arc order being the reverse of season one's has just been proven wrong by next week's preview. It's Kaoru's turn next instead of Sae. For me, I'll be waiting for Haruka's arc as I don't care for the other two as much. Anyways, I just hope the overused "best friend to lover" situation will not be too cliché. Additionally, I felt Kaoru's ending was a bit weak in season one so it'll be interesting to see how her arc is handled this time around.
