| Riko is insane |
Wow! This whole episode kept me at the edge of my seat. The outcome was really unexpected as the protagonist usually walks away victorious in most anime. Even though it is obvious that Aria will not die, it still makes me wonder what's going to happen between Riko and Kinji. The ending is, unfortunately, another cliffhanger. My guess is that Kinji goes into Hysteria Mode and kills Riko. Guess I'll have to wait and see if I'm right.
December 24th - A cruise ship sinks due to fire. Witnesses say a Butei was near the explosion that caused the fire. News reporters comment on how incompetent the Butei was. News reporters let out a flurry of questions about the danger the passengers were put in because of the Butei.
Oh wait. That was just a dream. Way to ruin a suspenseful moment, Kinji.
While going for a walk that morning, Kinji recalls the events of the dream. It turns out that his brother was the Butei on board that night in December. Unfortunately, after evacuating all the passengers and crew on board, he was the only one that died. On top of that, the society criticized him and started pestering Kinji with questions that he wouldn't know the answer to. This unfortunate event is the reason why he hates being a Butei and is wanting to quit. Suddenly, he hears Aria's voice and sees her exiting a store, looking all dressed up. Curious about this, he decides to stalk her. After following her for a while, she finally reveals to him that she knew about his stalking. Since he's already here, she tells him to follow her. The two then enter what seems to be a police building. After waiting for a bit in a small room separated by a transparent wall, Aria's mother appears, followed by two policemen. After a short time of introductions, including a misunderstanding where Aria's mother, Kanzaki Kanae, mistook Kinji as being her daughter's boyfriend. Due to time restraints Aria quickly tells her mother about her plans to solve this Butei Killer case. However, her mother reminds her that she must find a partner first before doing anything since safety is most important. Before Kanae is taken away again, she reminds her daughter that the scar on her forehead is a sign that she can't do everything alone. Once outside, it starts raining and, because she is unable to handle the pain inside, Aria starts crying uncontrollably.
The next day, Aria does not show up at school. While in the library during his break, a fellow Assault member, Shiranui, informs Kinji that there is a rumor about Aria returning to London. With that in mind, Kinji thinks about it after school and concludes that it is for the best since he is unable to help her in any way. Suddenly, he gets a phone call from Riko and after going to the designated meeting spot, realizes that the two of them are going to be in a private room at some restaurant/café I presume. After attempting to seduce him and failing, Riko gets straight to the reason why she brought him here: to give him information about the Butei Killer and his brother that she knows he wants. Now that her work is done, Riko attempts to seduce Kinji once more and this time, his Hysteria Mode activates. Because of this, Kinji is unfazed by Riko's seductive moves and confidently exits the room. Outside the building, he, with the help of Hysteria Mode, connects the pieces of information he has together and concludes that Aria is in danger. He then runs towards the airport and makes it on Aria's flight in time, telling the flight attendant to stop the flight as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the plane starts moving and the flight attendant informs him that the pilot cannot stop this plane due to regulations. Due to this unfortunate event, Kinji has to rethink his plan. While he does that, he decides to stay in Aria's compartment. After the two sit down in her compartment, Aria starts ranting about how she realized that, because of him, she will work alone for the rest of her life. However, when thunder starts to roar, that big talk of hers amounts to nothing as she cowers in fear. Looking at her current state made Kinji realize that, even though she is an S-Rank Butei, Aria is still a normal girl. In order to comfort her, he holds her hand and the two stare at each other for a while with glossy eyes. Suddenly, two bullet shots are heard and the Butei Killer announces through the intercom that this flight has been hijacked.
As the two make their way down to the bar on the first floor where the Butei Killer is, Kinji suspects that this Butei Killer copycat is replicating the real Butei Killer's hijackings. While the real Butei Killer hijacked a motorbike, a car and then a ship, this Butei Killer has hijacked a bicycle, a bus and now a plane. When the two finally make it to the bar, Kinji is shocked to see the flight attendant sitting there. However, the Butei Killer then reveals that the flight attendant uniform was just a disguise by ripping off the face mask and clothing. In reality, the Butei Killer is actually Riko. After revealing her identity, Riko goes on to explain that she the reason for all of this is because she wants to prove that she has surpassed her great-grandfather, Arsene Lupin, who fought an even battle with Sherlock Holmes, by defeating the descendant of Sherlock Holmes. She then explains that everything from the bicycle hijacking to the tampered clocks in Kinji's dormitory is her doing. In order to provoke Kinji, she also tells him that she is responsible for what happened to his brother and that Kinji's nii-san is now her boyfriend. Upon hearing this, Kinji is furious and prepares to shoot Riko. However, the plane tilts, causing him to fall and drop his pistol. As Riko walks over to a vulnerable Kinji, pointing her pistol at him, she taunts him, commenting on how useless she his. At that, Aria begins her fight with Riko. While Kinji hides and observes the battle like a coward, he waits for the right moment to strike. After Aria restricts Riko's movements, Kinji jumps out of hiding and puts a knife to Riko's throat, making it seem like it's the end. However, Riko explains that she, too, has the title of Quadra and suddenly whips out two hidden knives using her hair, slashing Aria with them in order to free herself. Then, she points her pistol at Aria's chest and fires at point blank range, severely injuring Aria while Kinji just stands there and watches. Fortunately, the episode preview contains Aria's voice so I doubt that she died. I can't wait to see how this whole thing turns out. Really looking forward to the next episode.
