A Channel - Episode 12

^_^     ^_^     ^_^     ^_^
Episode Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (4/5)

A surprisingly uneventful end to this serious but it's a slice of life series so I shouldn't have expected that much. In my opinion, Episode 7 would have been an excellent ending point because fireworks always make for a good ending. As for this episode, although it's true that there were some very funny moments, it didn't have the same "that was a nice ending" feel to it. Overall, the ending was quite nostalgic as it reminded me of K-ON!! and how everyone but Asuza was graduating. However, the lack of popularity for A Channel ruins it's chances of a second season. Nonetheless, it was an enjoyable episode and series.

With the fact that Run and the others will soon be third years still haunting Tooru, she ends up having a dream about them leaving her again. At school, Yuuko notices that Nagi looked kind of dead and learns that she had stayed up late reading a book last night. Although that was part of the problem, the rest of it lies in the fact that she ate two boxes of chocolates while she was reading. For those who don't get why this is so significant, refer back to Episode 4. To make Nagi feel a bit better, Yuuko tells her that she also stayed up late reading the other day. After she says the book title, Nagi started to look interested as she seems to know about it too. Unbeknownst to the fact that Nagi has just started reading it, Yuuko spoils one of the most dramatic parts, causing Nagi to cry. Yuuko misinterprets this as being sad due to remembering it but quickly realizes her mistake when she sees the book on Nagi's desk.

Later in the day, the two airheads, Run and Yutaka, begin copying homework from their fellow classmates Nagi and Tooru, respectively. Due to their stupidity, they read the answers upside down and, while Yutaka realized this thanks to Miho, Run probably got everything wrong. Soon after she finishes, Run begins talking to a male classmate. When Yuuko sees this, she starts worrying about Tooru coming here and threatening the male student. In an attempt to prevent this, Yuuko stands at the door, preparing for Tooru's appearance. Tooru then opens the door suddenly, causing Yuuko to start panicking. In the end, Yuuko starts accidentally suffocating Tooru by pressing her head against her chest. When Run finally finished talking, Yuuko lets go and shocked to see an unconscious Tooru.

While walking down the hallway after the closing ceremony for the semester, Nagi is confronted by Kamate-sensei who, being the lazy teacher that she is, asks her own student to do something that she is supposed to do. Although Nagi agrees, she wishes to ask one question before assisting her teacher. And that question is? "Watashi no namae wa?" Despite the fact that Kamate-sensei is the second-years' homeroom teacher, she could not remember Nagi's name. After a short moment of silence, Kitou-sensei appears out of nowhere and starts lecturing Kamate-sensei about being a good teacher while Nagi takes the opportunity to slip away unnoticed. In the end, Kamate-sensei decides to ask Kitou-sensei to hand out the sheets of paper instead since she is the one who let Nagi get away. On top of that, she is asked to treat Kamate-sensei to dinner after school.

Meanwhile, the Tooru, Yutaka and Miho are outside cleaning the school grounds. While they are cleaning, Yutaka spots a scared neko-chan high up on a tree. Wanting to be the hero this time around, she starts climbing up the tree, telling the other two to not worry since she is good at climbing trees. However, right when she grabbed hold of the cat, she loses her balance and almost falls off the tree. In the end, both the cat and Yutaka reach the ground safely though Yutaka's slight blunder caused Tooru and Miho to be quite angry. Shortly after, Run appears and, after seeing the bits of leaves on Tooru's head, helps clean them off. While this happens, Miho and Yutaka continue staring at an extremely embarrassed Tooru, commenting on how kawaii she and Run are.

After school, the Run, Tooru, Yuuko and Nagi gather at a fast food restaurant that is currently promoting the special durian burger. While Nagi and Yuuko are off buying their food, Run accidentally bites her tongue while eating, making it seem like she is talking in another language. When Nagi and Yuuko arrive a bit later than expected, they explain that they had to help a foreigner with directions. When Run starts talking again, they are unsure of the language that Run is using. After they finish eating, Yuuko tells the others that she is collecting the "points" that come with the food for the prize that this place offers so when they all give her their "points", she was very happy. Upon leaving her seat to go to the washroom, Yuuko trips and falls, exposing her pantsu to the others who use the "points" cards to show the "score" that they gave her for that magnificent fall. Embarrassed, Yuuko quickly rushes to the washroom. After finishing her business, she sees that one of the customers has just thrown out his points. Thinking that there are many others like him, she decides to camp out near the garbage can. Meanwhile, other customers start passing by the other three and offer their points to them. It is implied that Yuuko gave up soon after, returned to see the large amount of points that the other three have obtained and exchanged them for the stuffed bear key chain that she had wanted. While the three second years have fun with microscopically small paper cranes, glasses and impressions, Tooru falls asleep. While sleeping, she dreams that Run is actually an alien and that she is going back to space via a UFO while the insert song is played. When she finally wakes up, it turns out that Run had carried her all the way back home. Once alone, the thought of the other three girls graduating and leaving her haunts her once again. To escape from this, Tooru decides to go to the convenience store to buy something sweet in order to cheer herself up. Upon exiting the apartment building, she sees Run jumping up and down on some thing that protruded from the ground. After seeing her friend's smiling face, tears start forming around Tooru's eyes as she comments on how Run never changes. And with that, Tooru runs up to Run and hugs her, marking the end of the show in a sweet way. To top it all off, right after the ED, which is also the insert song in Episode 1, the final picture is similar to the final picture in Episode 1.
