A Channel - Episode 1

From Left to Right: Run, Tooru, Nagi, Yuuko
Episode Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (4/5)

I'll start off with comparing the characters in A Channel and K-ON.

Run = Yui. These two characters are almost identical in personality. Both Yui and Run have the have the airhead personality that is bound to provide comedy.
Tooru = Azusa (a little). Tooru is the only character that does not have a K-ON character that matches her. I guess she is similar to Azusa because she is the youngest in the group of four friends. Tooru is also shy like Asuza.
Yuuko = Mio with Mugi's seiyuu. Her black hair and personality instantly reminded me of Mio. Her voice was unmistakably Mugi's.
Nagi = Nodoka. Both characters wear glasses. They also look calm at all times and observe the situation from the sidelines.

Now back to the episode. All four characters were introduced early with Run being the first to talk. It can be seen that Tooru is obsessed with Run and doesn't want any male around her. She does not hesitate to take a baseball bat to scare the male students away from Run. However, because of her small figure, the other three girls treat her like a child. A short flashback shows Tooru finding out she gets accepted to the same school as Run. Filled with joy, she decides to go over to Run's house to tell her. Then the unexpected (but funny) scene comes. After opening the door to Run's room, Tooru witnesses some yuri action between Run and Yuuko. Obviously this was a misunderstanding but the when Yuuko tried to explain it to Tooru, she receives an uppercut to her chest area. The scene where Run tries to cut a candy in half with a box cutter should have had a "Do not try this at home" warning. Tooru's ability to detect the slightest scent of sweets is amusing.

As Tooru's high school life begins with Run and her two new friends, she starts to feel distant from Run. However, she is reassured that everything is going to be fine. The rest of the series should show Tooru slowly becoming more close with the others and opening up more. The OP, IN and ED were all nice. Looking forward to the next episode.
