Erio <3 |
Not enough Erio in this episode. Two new girls introduced, with both being unique and weird in their own way. The really unfortunate past of Erio is explained and I hope that she will be able to break out of her current state.
The episode begins with Makoto and Erio eating dinner together under night sky after she told him she's an alien from Episode 1. Erio then goes on to say some random things that Makoto (and I) don't understand at all. Fast-forward to the end of Makoto's first day of school. As he is about to go home on his bike, New Girl #1 approaches him. From her actions, she can be considered as an energetic type. She later introduces herself as Mifune Ryuuko. After she asks him where he lives, Makoto takes out a map and shows it to her. Because her hands were on the handlebars of her bicycle at the time, she takes the paper with her mouth. I don't know why she couldn't let go of her bicycle and grab hold of the paper with her hands. After she reads it (I have no idea how she could have), Makoto takes the paper back and is unsure on what to do with the paper that now has her lipstick/saliva on it. What weird thoughts he has... Anyways, Ryuuko suggests that they go home together because their houses are in the same direction. Before they head off, Makoto notices a yellow helmet in the basket on the front of her bike. She then describes as if it is the best thing ever. I think Makoto is questioning her sanity during her rant about the helmet. Then, she starts pedaling so fast that Makoto can barely keep with with her. When they finally reach the intersection where they split up, Makoto's interaction with New Girl #1 ends. When he gets home, he is greeted by Erio (still wrapped in a futon) who tells him she is giving him a very important mission. Obviously annoyed, he closes the door in her face before she could finish her sentence.
Early the next day, Makoto meets New Girl #2, who sits beside him in class. Nothing is really known about her at this point except that she is tall and is often mistaken by others as a 3rd year student when she's actually a 2nd year student. At lunch, Makoto notices that Ryuuko's lunch contained no meat and asked if she was a vegetarian. Most people respond with either a "yes" or a "no" but Ryuuko responds with a "I am a fruitist", which can be also classified as a vegetarian. Just then, another girl walks in and gives Ryuuko (whom she calls Ryuushi) their club's agenda. After the girl leaves, Makoto asks Ryuuko, who hates the name Ryuushi, where it came from. Though she doesn't say it directly, I believe she was talking about Erio who went to this school not too long ago. Rumor is that she requested to drop out. After school, he sees New Girl #2 again, stretching in front of the school (who does that anyways?). While walking to their bicycle, Makoto learns that New Girl #2 (Maekawa-san), gets light headed after 10 seconds of holding her hands above her head. That's the first time I've heard of something like that.
Back at home, Makoto sees Erio lying on the floor, wrapped up in her futon like always. All of a sudden she startles him by moving. Obviously pissed off because she is blocking the halway, he kicks her and she keeps rolling down the hall until she hits a door. Then he questions her about what she said yesterday while stomping on the futon with his foot. After he's done with his bullying, Makoto enters the kitchen and sees a half-eaten box of pizza. He then realizes that the inside of the futon must be a mess now because of what he did so he decides to clean Erio and her futon. Erio is so moe when she rolls back up in her futon after the cleaning. When it was dark, Makoto and Erio venture out on bicycle just like last time. After giving him random directions, the two end up at a beach two hours later. It would seem like Makoto had never saw a large body of water before considering his reaction to seeing the blue water and hearing the waves rushing to shore. After his excitement dies down a bit, he notices Erio wandering off into the ocean. Thinking she was going to commit suicide, he rushes to go save her. To my surprise, she tells Makoto that there was nothing to fear because she can "fly". As the two of them are heading home, Makoto runs into Maekawa-san who was on an evening stroll wearing some weird looking sandwich costume. After seeing Erio in the basket, Maekawa-san tells Makoto that Erio is famous in the area because she disappeared for about half a year. Makoto, who didn't seem too surprised about that fact, then tells Maekawa-san that he and Erio are cousins. When she heard that, she was very surprised and told him that if everyone at school heard about his relationship with Erio, there would be chaos. After the two get back, Meme tells Makoto all about Erio's past. How she disappeared in June and was found drifting in the sea in November. And how she tried to prove that she can fly by riding her bicycle (the one that Makoto now uses) off a cliff and into the ocean, breaking her leg in the process. After recovering from the injury in the hospital, Erio had been wrapping herself in a futon ever since. It's quite sad if you think about it. It's because of what happened during the time of her disappearance that caused her to be in the her current state. I have a feeling this anime is going to become more dramatic later on. Looking forward to the next episode.
