A Channel - Episode 3

Is this really that scary?
Episode Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (4/5)

After the first two episodes, I thought that Run and Yui were both equally airheaded. But now, it is clear than Run is much more of an airhead. The start of the episode already starts showing how incredibly stupid (but funny) Run is. As she exits her house, Tooru asks her is she is awake today. Though she responded with confidence, her actions begged to differ. Instead of grabbing Tooru's hand, she grabs some random kid's hand (who just happened to be walking by) and starts walking. Tooru just stands there, dumbfounded by how her best friend could mistake her for an elementary school boy. At school, while Tooru is busy with cleaning the duty, the three girls are having drinks they bought from the vending machine. Once finished, Nagi suggests that they go see what Tooru is like in class. Before they reach Tooru's classroom, Nagi and Yuuko start picturing how Tooru would act. Their guesses of 'shy' and 'delinquent' were totally wrong as Run tells them that Tooru is an honor student. As they take a peek inside classroom 1-7, they are amazed to see Tooru correcting some paperwork for the teacher and saying that it was no big deal for her. The three older girls then start teasing Tooru for being such a good student. After getting embarrassed by them, Tooru now has to deal with the girl who sits beside her in class. Right off the bat, I could tell she was going to be one annoying character that would cling to Tooru. During the break, Tooru, who was most likely annoyed by her new 'friend', goes into Run's class and begins to hug Run, Nagi and Yuuko out of loneliness. It was funny how Yuuko's hug had some extra 'squeezing' involved.

Later in the day, the creepy guy with the forehead fetish makes an appearance once again. This time, he is walking down the hallway and stops right when he sees Run. While she was walking towards him, he couldn't help but stare at her forehead with creepy eyes. After she walks past him, he decides to comment on how her forehead looks beautiful (forehead fetish alert!) and also asks for directions to the infirmary. Nagi, who was watching them the whole time, questions Run about him. Run then goes on to tell her that he is the new nurse. Even after finding that out, Nagi is still suspicious of him. A little while later, Nagi, with Yuuko this time, sees Run talking to the creepy guy again with Tooru between them. Tooru's overprotective instinct kicks in and she tries to stop Mr. Pedophile from getting too close to Run. However, once he says how her head looks like a sea urchin, she looks depressed and was obviously hurt by his words. Then, he comments again on how nice Run's forehead is and starts slowly getting closer to her. All this time, Run is unaware of the situation. When it looked like he was going to fall on top of her, he suddenly turns blue and tells them he needs to take his medicine. A pedophile with a weak body, eh?

Back in class, Run shows Yuuko and Nagi her new iPod. Both of them comment on how nice and high-tech it is. However, when Nagi asks Run what music she listens to, Run's response of 'no music' killed the enthusiasm. Run then goes on to explain that she tried many things but couldn't get the music on it. Of course all the things she tried were really stupid but the worst thing was probably taking it apart and then putting it back together. After hearing all the stupid things Run did, Nagi starts raging at her. It was so bad that Yuuko needed to restrain her to prevent Run from getting hurt. After Nagi calmed down, Yuuko presses the power button on the iPod and it (miraculously) turned on. Then, she tells Run that to put music on it, she will need to use a computer. In response to that, Run calmly states that she doesn't have a computer. Stupidity at it's finest! Meanwhile, Tooru is still trying to get away from her annoying elbow partner in class, Yutaka. As she manages to get away from her grasp, Tooru starts feeling lonely when she reaches Run's classroom and realizes that they have gym. In the changing room before gym class, it was funny how Nagi said that the bloomers they had to wear were like panties. During on of the warm-up exercises in gym class, Run and Yuuko manage to scare Nagi by covering Run's face with Yuuko's hair. After their gym class ended, Tooru's began. When the teacher asked everyone to get into partners, it was like a death sentence for Tooru. Fortunately, Yutaka's friend (Miporin) saves her by forcing Yutaka to be her partner.

Back in the 2nd years' class, Nagi tells Yuuko that her knee was bruised from when she fell down after getting scared in gym. Concerned that the wound may become infected, Yuuko forces Nagi to go to the infirmary. Upon opening the door to the infirmary, Yuuko accidentally steps on the head of Mr. Pedophile who had just collapsed from a seizure. To make matters worse, Run comes in a while later and steps on his head too. Personally, I think he deserved it. After getting her knee disinfected and bandaged, the three head back to class. While going back, Yuuko tells the other two that she feels the new nurse (Mr.Pedophile) is "bad news". At the end of the day, Tooru is once again annoyed by Yutaka wants to be taught everything from today's lessons. Yutaka's stupidity must have made Tooru snap because she soon rages at her. Tooru raging is a first. Finally, she is saved by Miporin again who then disciplines Yutaka and tells her that she is bothering Tooru too much. After the cursed thought of being lonely without Yutaka crosses her mind, Tooru immediately shakes it off in fear and rushes to Run's class. There, she hugs squeezes Yuuko again, probably due to being lonely. I feel sorry for Tooru and hope that she can make new friends from her class soon. Looking forward to the next episode.
