Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko - Episode 1

This reminds me of Titanic
Episode Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★  (5/5)

Wow. Awesome episode filled with plot development, comedy and lots of moe moments from Erio. A scene of Erio walking from the ocean back to her house followed by the catchy OP starts the episode off well. The story begins with the male protagonist, Niwa Makoto, looking forward to starting a new life in an urban city living with his aunt. Like a any guy who has just moved away from a rural area, meeting girls is near the top of his priority list. When the train reaches his destination, he is greeted by his aunt who was waiting at the station. His aunt, Touwa Meme, looks like she is in her early twenties but according to her business card, she is 39. Adding to the fact that she also talks like a teen, the number 39 doesn't seem to fit her at all. After exchanging greetings, the both of them take a taxi back to her house. Along the way, Meme tells Makoto that the city is watched over by aliens. That made him have his doubts about her. I just find her very strange.

When they enter the house, the first thing Makoto notices is Erio lying on the floor wrapped in a futon. Unsure of whether it would be polite to ask Meme about Erio, he decides to ignore it for a while. During dinner, Makoto is even more bothered by Erio now so he decides to ask Meme who Erio is. Meme calls Erio her daughter but Makoto doubts that. After a short period of confusing conversation while hitting the futon Erio is wrapped in, Makoto gets attacked by her. After a moment of shock, he calms himself down and continues to question Meme while Erio is constantly kicking him with her feet. It gets to a point where he is so annoyed that he grabs her foot and causes her to fall backwards. Because she is being constrained by the futon, she is unable to get up. After a while of flailing, she accidentally kicks a stool up in the air and it crashes down on the dinner that Meme "went all out" on making. Meme then goes crazy and throws Erio at a door, causing her to get stuck. Makoto watched all this happen in disbelief.

The next day, after returning from school, he sees Erio watching TV. Trying to be friendly, he introduces himself and talks to her. However, it appears that Erio doesn't like to answer questions but instead says random and complicated things that Makoto cannot understand. The only thing he figured out was that Universe meant pizza to her. After a while of thinking, I gave up trying to link Universe to pizza. When Erio was about to eat the pizza, Makoto thought there was no way she could eat it without taking off the futon. To his surprise, she threw half the pizza in the air and devoured it as it landed in the hole in the futon where her hair stuck out from. For dinner, the two decide to go out and get something to eat. The way to the store (I'm assuming convenience store), it must have been awkward for Makoto to carry a futon had a pair of legs sticking out of it. When they reached the store, Makoto forced Erio to take off the futon so she can enter the store without violating its rules. As the futon is unwrapped and her whole body is revealed, Makoto stands in awe at the magnificence of Erio. I thought that her voice didn't match her appearance. On the outside she looked very mature and well-composed but her voice was that of a playful child. She goes on to claim that she is an alien and reveals her mission to Makoto. And that is how Niwa Makoto met Touwa Erio. Really looking forward to the next episode.
