Jormungand - Episode 5

I guess being loco runs in the family...

The Hekmatayr family: where being loco is absolutely normal. With the introduction of Kasper, Koko's brother, light is shed on the mystery of Jonah's past. Like in many stories, the two seemingly unrelated main characters (to the audience, that is) end up discovering/revealing their connection to each other; in this case, the "connection" is Kasper. Like Koko, Kasper is also a troll. Additionally, he's also an arms dealer and has a bodyguard who's similar to Valmet. In a sense, he's the male version of Koko. However, his past and how it is intertwined with Jonah's is what makes him an interesting character.

From the start, it was clear that Jonah hated arms dealers because of what they did to his parents. But after learning of his past, I'm not so sure if that's the only reason. It seems to me that Jonah's hatred originated from how he had to watch a friend of his get taken away to an unknown place, and later hear that she was used as a landmine bait. It was then that he became cold and ruthless, eventually single-handedly killing off all the adults in the weapons base he and other children were held at. Kasper's confession later on that he was the one who provided the weapons that might have indirectly killed Jonah's parents was just rubbing salt into the wound, at that point. But seeing as how Jonah's slowly starting to soften up and integrate himself with Koko and her crew, maybe this hatred will soon be a thing of the past.

As for the preview, aside from that awesome loco song (OST, where?), it contained nothing noteworthy. Unrelated random scenes of the next episode being spammed one after another do not help in figuring out what's going to happen next. All that I know is that it'll probably take place in Africa. On the bright side, it's more of a surprise this way.
