Ano Natsu de Matteru - Episode 6
Okay, I honestly didn't expect things to get any more complicated than they already are. It's enough that Ichika and Kanna are fighting over Kaito, but to add another girl, no less a childhood friend, into the mix is pushing it. Poor Mio can't relax anymore either as she, too, finds herself in a difficult situation. However, even though it may seem like I wasn't satisfied with this episode, in reality, I actually loved it. What happened may be cliché, but it was still interesting, to say the least. I really enjoy the pacing of the story and I had a good laugh or two while watching the episode. Whether Kinoshita Kaori and Arisawa Chiharu are going to stay for the remaining six episodes or not still remains a mystery. One thing's for sure though, they have definitely impacted the lives of the other four.
When Kaori first introduced herself as Kaito's fiancée, I knew trouble was brewing. On top of already being familiar with Kaito, she's got quite the nice body as well. Personally, I'd choose her over both Ichika and Kanna. Although it may not seem like it, I believe her presence within the Kaito love square is benefiting the other two. Previously, both Ichika and Kanna had no motivation to confess to Kaito, knowing that the other would not make a move any time soon. However, seeing as Kaori has taken the offensive, the two must now make a quick decision: let Kaori steal Kaito away or be honest with themselves about their feelings. From what I can tell, Kanna doesn't stand a chance as her "wait for Ichika to leave" plan has just failed. Ichika, on the other hand, probably holds the biggest advantage given that Kaito likes her. But I wouldn't count out Kaori just yet as her tears of sadness may sway Kaito's heart (I mean, seriously, how can one not feel sorry for her after seeing those tears slide down her face?). I personally prefer Kaito x Kaori now but, like always, it's going to be the first girl who, in this case, is Ichika, that wins in the end.
The Tetsurō love triangle (excluding Kanna for the time being since she didn't factor in much in this episode) is more of a comedic one. Things are looking good for Tetsurō x Mio supporters, especially at the end. It's quite obvious that Tetsurō is not too fond of Chiharu; her hyper personality is probably a turn-off for him. What's more is that she looks really creepy (that's just my opinion) so I definitely wouldn't want for her to be the one that crushes Mio's chances. It was really nice to see Mio reach her limit and break out of her shy character for just a moment. Added to this was that nice fanservice shot showing that she was going commando for what was probably the whole trip. It wasn't the prettiest way to do it, but I think Mio has just got the chance that she waited so long for. Now all that's left is for her to capitalize on it.
An episode review is always incomplete if there is no mention of Lemon or Rinon. Once again, Lemon continues to be the bystander in order to accumulate some rare and valuable footage (it wouldn't surprise me if she manages to capture both situations given that there's a possibility she's not human. Now that all this has happened, I'm really looking forward to actually seeing the movie if it gets completed. As for Rinon, it was unfortunate enough to get sat on my Chiharu. Something tells me that the dangerous-looking, sci-fi image is foreshadowing an unfortunate event for Ichika or Kaito. Aside from that, I just hope Rinon is able to endure having to support something about 100 times its weight and survive. There's probably going to be a lot of drama in the next episode so I'll be preparing myself for it.
