Another - Episode 4

Facepalm Facedesk Facefloor?

Another episode and another death. The deaths themselves are becoming less and less shocking, and may reach the point where they are actually predictable. It's only been two deaths and I'm already unshaken by them. The real question now is not "Is someone going to die?", but "Who is going to die?" Strangely enough, it has been characters who try getting close to Kōichi that end up dying; the fact that his name is supposedly associated with "death" actually makes sense now. The episode appeared to end on June 3rd, three days before the 6th. It'll be interesting to see how big of a role "June 6th" will play in the upcoming episode.

While there are countless speculations on who is going to fall victim to the curse next, I suspect it to be either the genki girl who's in the theater club or the nurse's younger brother.

For the former, the scene in which the girl starts screaming "No!" and "I don't want to die!" made me think that she saw signs of her impending doom through the falling glass. The genuine look of terror on her face after the last piece of glass slowly crashed to the ground seemed significant enough to warrant some attention. Additionally, when Kōichi was looking at the glass, he thought about Damien, which might have triggered the coincidental strong winds which caused the glass to fall. The latter theory may be the result of my reading into the dialogue too much, though.

The latter guess comes from my assumption that Takeru will attempt to avenge his sister's death by taking out his anger on Kōichi, who he believes to be responsible for everything. And since I'm supporting the idea that those who stay around Kōichi too long will end up meeting their end, him dying seems logical enough. However, given as that he hasn't even talked to Kōichi yet, there may still be the chance that Takeru will continue to move forward, just hoping that he won't be next.

From the next episode title (translated as "Build limbs") I'm guessing that the doll maker, Kirika, will be involved somehow. Everything from her dying to her causing someone else to die is undoubtedly possible, although the chances of it happening are unknown. Her brief appearance in this episode looked to be a foreshadowing of her introduction, and from the look on her face, she doesn't seem like a nice person. Judging from Kōichi's personality, curiosity will get the best of him and he'll eventually try and find out who Kirika really is. This'll likely end up with him being involved in a dangerous situation where more on the curse is revealed.

Honestly, I really hope I'm wrong with my predictions. I dislike it when a story is too predictable; unexpected twists and turns are what makes everything suspenseful and enjoyable. Anyways, Mei is as mysterious as always and I wonder when she'll reveal who she really is. Lastly, if Izumi dies in the next episode, I will rage.
