Almost finished catching up with this!
I'm running out of things to say for this show. However, this does not mean I hate watching it; it's just that there's nothing "new" in a sense - every episode is just three random gags that do not further the barely existing plot. Watching Ika Musume gives me a good laugh or two and that's essentially all that I want from it. So expect the posts to get shorter and shorter as the episodes go on (unless the episode is really epic or I just feel like ranting). And now for episode 8 after I finish up my readings for one course. I'm ahead of in my schedule so far which is good.
もてなさなイカ!？ (Won't You Welcome Us!?)
The story begins with the owner of the rival beach house confronting Eiko and inviting her, her sister, and Ika Musume to his house for no apparent reason. On pathway toward the house, Eiko spots some creepy flowerpots in the form of Ika Musume's head which Ika Musume, luckily, didn't think much of since it wasn't wearing her white hat. Once inside, the seemingly always-angry man had his daughter serve them drinks before the awkward conversation began. Midway through he leaves for the kitchen to prepare food (I think) and, when Ika Musume and Eiko make a ruckus, he returns with a knife in his hand, giving the two girls the wrong idea. To top the weirdness off, when Eiko and Ika Musume go to "outhouse" at the back of the house, they are subject to machine molestation (i.e. a creepy Ika Musume-like machine assisted them while they used the washroom). To end off the day, the three guests are served a delicious-looking dinner, as well as jello for dessert, before being kicked out of the house at 9:00 since he didn't want to do anymore unnecessary things (i.e. he already welcomed and thanked them, which is more than enough). The reason for all this? It was because the man wanted to thank the three of them for helping his daughter improve her social skills. Speaking of "unnecessary things", as Eiko and the other two make their way back to their house, she takes one last look at the Ika Musume flowerpots and gets a good laugh out of seeing them.
記憶喪失じゃなイカ!？ (Isn't That Amnesia!?)
One day, Ika Musume was playing games until lunch was ready. Upon hearing that Chizuru made some fried shrimp, she attempts to quickly rush down the stairs. Unfortunately, she loses her footing and takes a long fall down, hitting her head in the process. This caused her to apparently lose all her memories - including knowledge about her name and why she is even here. Despite this, she still has a slight memory of how she doesn't really like Eiko, is on good terms with Takeru and is scared of Chizuru after each one of them offers her a fried shrimp. At the Beach House Lemon, when Sanae and Cindy find out about the amnesia, they attempt to fabricate a story in which Ika Musume is an alien who is Sanae's lover. Chizuru then joins in on the fun and makes Ika Musume believe that she is Eiko's younger sister. This leads to Ika Musume referring to Eiko as "Onee-chan", causing Eiko to be overcome with embarrassment. But when Chizuru tells the truth - that Ika Musume came from the sea, is scared of sharks, loves shrimp and will die if she takes her hat off - the poor squid girl didn't believe a word and tries to rip her hat off. Right when it started to tear off her head, the pain causes Ika Musume to stop and, at that moment, her memories flash before her eyes. She starts to remember everyone's names and how she interacted with each of them - that is with the exception of Sanae. The story ends with Sanae questioning why she's the only one who Ika Musume has forgotten.
入部しなイカ!？ (Won't You Join a Club!?)
Once clubs activities were finished Kiyomi and her friends started to think of what to do next. Then, Ika Musume reveals to have been waiting for them. As the girls walk past other clubs doing activities, Ika Musume is inspired to create the Invasion Club. With the help of Kiyomi and her friends, this idea becomes a reality. The club room just so happens to be the Beach House Lemon since it isn't an "official" school club. At first, Ika Musume had no idea on what to do since she had decided to create the club on a whim. Thus, one of the girls takes the initiative to draw a map of the places they have "invaded" (it is the Invasion Club, after all). And with that, the girls set out to "invade" more places in order to expand their territory. However, it turns out that their "invasions" meant going to random places of entertainment (karaoke box, bowling alley, water park, cafe, clothing store, etc.). Anyhow, club activities end up being cancelled the next day since Kiyomi didn't show up. And on the day after, the other girls inform Ika Musume that Kiyomi caught a cold. This causes Ika Musume to contemplate suspending club activities for a while but, with Eiko's encouragement, the four club members decide to continue their invasion - with the target being Kiyomi's house. However, Ika Musume ends up catching a cold thereafter, allowing the girls to
