Hidan no Aria - Episode 10

*gasp*, Reki can smile?
Episode Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ (4/5)

A filler episode with lots of censors, a new villain possibly and kawaii Reki. Riko's back story is quite sad and I hope that she and Jeanne aren't lying about it. There are many different possibilities on how this will end (this is coming from someone who hasn't read the LN) so I'll save my guesses until the next episode. On that note, the next episode seems to include a new character as well as the perverted, gray-haired, glasses-wearing teacher with the villainous smile. Though this episode lacked action as it was half fanservice, I'm hoping the last two episodes will be the most memorable.

Picking up from right where the last episode left off, Riko explains to Kinji and Aria about the robbery plan while showing them a picture of Vlad's residence. Even though she knows so much information about Vlad, the reason why Riko wanted Kinji and Aria to help her is because she doesn't know enough about the underground, which is also the place where her "treasure" is hidden. To do that, Riko tells them that they will become a butler and maid there, allowing them to easily bypass security. However, this idea does't sit well with Aria as she refuses to wear a maid-like outfit. On top of that, Riko also mentions that Vlad hasn't been at that house for decades, giving Aria no motivation to follow through with the infiltration. But knowing Aria, the moment that Riko starts hinting sexual activities involving Kinji, she immediately agrees to go, claiming that the change of mind is because she doesn't want anyone laying hands on her "slave". Then, after confirming with Riko that she would testify in Aria's mother's trial once they help steal whatever she wanted, Aria is finally satisfied with the conditions. Once the two girls finish talking, Kinji asks Riko what exactly they would be stealing. After Riko tells them that she wants them to steal a rosary that her mother gave her on her 5th birthday, Aria loses it. The thought of helping the person who framed her mother to get something that was given to them by their mother really pissed Aria off. However, once Riko reveals that both her mother and father are dead, Aria's anger turns into pity. As Kinji looks on in suspicion, Riko gets Aria's sympathy with her tears. After she stops crying, Riko takes them to a store that specializes in maid clothing to buy Aria's maid outfit that is needed for the infiltration. There, Riko forces an embarrassed Aria to wear a uniform-apron and show Kinji, who immediately starts blushing at the sight. Next on Riko's schedule is for Aria to practice her speech towards a goshujinsama. To top off the embarrassment, the goshujinsama that she has to speak to in this case is Kinji, someone who is supposedly below her in rank. Riko's amusing "repeat after me" (said in Engrish) coupled with Aria's inability to say goshujinsama made it extremely funny to watch.

As a result of hours of training, Aria is finally able to say it. However, she now looks like a complete zombie who is unable to stop saying what she couldn't say before. With Aria's training now done, Riko informs Kinji that it is his turn, telling him to meet her in the 7th Infirmary in Ambulance in 15 minutes. While making his way there, Kinji hears a piano being played in the music room and, after looking in it, sees Jeanne (a.k.a. Durandal). As he prepares for a battle, Jeanne surprises him by saying that she doesn't intend to fight as she is forced to be an exchange student from Paris at this school because due to the condition of her plea bargain. Right before Kinji leaves, she reveals that she knows of the plan to infiltrate Vlad's residence and tells him more about Riko's past. Expectantly, it was Vlad who had imprisoned Riko without proper nourishment after her parents had passed away. Even though she had escaped once, Vlad managed to catch her once again and released her on one condition: she proves to him that she has surpassed her great-grandfather by defeating Aria. Jeanne then goes on further and tells Kinji that Vlad isn't human; he is basically a demon. Since she is unable to properly describe Vlad with words, Jeanne decides to draw him out. Along with the drawing, she marks down three of the four "weak spots" on Vlad that must be hit simultaneously in order to defeat him. After finishing the drawing, she gives it to him and exits the room, leaving him to realize that her drawing abilities are horrible. Just then, Kinji looks at his watch and remembers that he is supposed to meet Riko at the 7th Infirmary soon.

After running there, he is surprised to see that the room is empty. Suddenly, he hears the sound of female voices approaching and quickly hides in the closet with the cleaning tools. To his surprise, Mutou was there too, but for a totally different reason. As the girls started undressing for a re-checkup, Mutou thinks that Kinji is here to observe too, to which Kinji strongly denies. Suddenly, Kinji's receives a text message from Riko, who apparently knew where he is hiding, asking him if there are any girls here besides her that may trigger his Hysteria Mode. Realizing that this is most likely the "training" she was talking about, he continues to read the text. When he comes across the line that says "reply within 10 seconds with the color of Riko's underwear or the closet door will be opened" he starts panicking, pushing Mutou aside so he can scan the room for Riko. Fortunately, he is able to find her and replies in time. Shortly after, Aria walks in and, while she undresses, Kinji is unable to take his eyes off her, easily entering Hysteria Mode. Soon after this, Sayonaki-sensei walks in and starts getting swarmed by the girls. By looking at his face, you can tell that he is enjoying it but, because of his status as a teacher, he tells them to put their clothes back on as he is only here to collect their blood. While the girls whine about already being topless and that he should just collect their blood this way, a mischievous smile flashes across his face. After seeing that, I believe that he is going to be involved with the Vlad infiltration, possibly being Vlad himself, disguised as a human. Aside from this, Reki must have heard Mutou's words of anger towards the teacher when the girls were told to put their clothes back on as she walks over to the closet door and swings it open, causing the girls to scream in embarrassment and Kinji to start sweating really badly. Right when Reki grabs Mutou by the front of his shirt in anger, a wolf crashes through the window, shifting the attention of everyone to it. Unfortunately, it ends up knocking over a medicine cabinet which fell on an unsuspecting Mutou, causing him to be immobilized. As Kinji stares down the wolf, Reki starts giving him information about it. The wolf is apparently a Caucasus silver wolf, an endangered species found between Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Even with Hysteria Mode, Kinji is unable to subdue the wolf. It ends up tackling Sayonaki-sensei to the floor before taking it's leave through another window. Luckily, the immobilized Mutou informs Kinji that there is a motorcycle behind some nearby bushes and throws him the keys for them. With Reki joining him in order to give directions, the two speed off towards their target. They end up at a construction building where Reki informs Kinji that she last saw the wolf on the eighth floor. After arriving at the eight floor via a lift, Kinji follows the paw prints on the ground until they come to a sudden stop. He then quickly turns around and comes face to face with the wolf, it's eyes now glowing bright red. Despite the fact that the wolf disarms him quickly, Kinji manages to restrict the wolf's movement using a leash-like tool. However, the wolf is able to shake off this restriction, running away as it does so. As Reki prepares her gun, she recites her "I am a single bullet" monologue. Right when the wolf comes into view, she fires and surprisingly misses - or so it seems. Kinji's guess about Reki missing turns out to be wrong as the two find the wolf paralyzed on the floor that it supposedly escaped to. Amazingly, Reki is able to tame the wolf almost immediately, surprising Kinji. Then, she tells him that she will keep the wolf by obtaining permission to keep it as a Butei hound. At the end of a long day, Kinji returns to the dormitory and is greeted by a furious (and that's an understatement) Aria who proceeds to shoot at him after he accidentally told her the reason why he was in the locker earlier was because he was horny for her. With that, the somewhat filler episode comes to an end. With the next two episodes being the last ones, I wonder how they are going to play out the whole Vlad thing. Really looking forward to it.
