Introducing Ms. Annoying Self-Proclaimed Esper |
All right, it's official. I hate the new self-proclaimed esper. She is extremely annoying and her voice drives me insane. I really hope that she doesn't make much of an appearance in last two episodes though I doubt my wish will be granted. Aside from her, I got my episodic dose of moe Erio so I guess this episode was somewhat enjoyable. However, looking back, I wanted more of a plot to this anime. It's true that I am contradicting myself when I say this since I watched A-Channel but seeing as the idea of "aliens on Earth" provides a good base for a plot, I can't help but be a bit disappointed. Nonetheless, I guess I'll finish this series up since I've gotten so far already.
After the "esper" had recovered from the error that caused the baseball to knock it unconscious, the game continued and Makoto's team ended up losing for the second time in a row. Now, during another game the following day, Makoto asks Hanazawa-san, who's on first base, about the "esper", who's currently at bat. As the "esper" struggles with the pitches, Hanazawa-san explains that the "esper" is someone that Nakajima knows. In return, Makoto tells Hanazawa-san about him being cousins with Erio after she referred to Erio as a "thing" due to what she witnessed while Erio was still at school. In the end, Makoto's team ended up losing again, meaning that they were responsible for cleaning the field. While cleaning, Erio starts getting chased by the "esper" but is saved by Makoto. After the "esper" finishes ranting, Makoto delivers a deadly insult, rendering the "esper" speechless and defeated. While the "esper" drowns in its sorrows, Makoto and Erio take their leave. Shortly after, Makoto tells her that she needs to stand up for herself more often but suddenly becomes quiet when she holds his arm and tells him that she will rely on him even more from now on.
When the field is finally clean, Makoto is finally able to sit down and eat. During this time, he takes the opportunity to talk to Ryuuko via text messaging. At first Ryuuko didn't seem to mind his proposal to watch her "secret training" but immediately refuses after he tells her Erio may go as well. Though Makoto doesn't realize this, it's quite obvious that Ryuuko hates Erio despite the fact that she said the opposite in the text. Later that night, while observing the night sky with a telescope, Erio starts acting like Ryuuko for a while, confusing him a bit. However, all that is forgotten soon enough as the "esper" appears out of nowhere. Because of this, Erio goes inside the house to get her futon while Makoto engages in a rather dull conversation. When she returns, she tackles the "esper" down shortly after, knocking off its helmet in the process. The person inside turns out to a silver-haired loli who, after threatening Makoto and Erio because they apparently caused her harm, introduces herself as Hoshimiya Yashiro. After this, Makoto and Erio quickly go back into the house, leaving Yashiro outside. Once he is back in his room, Makoto picks up his cell phone which has just started ringing. It turns out that Ryuuko is calling him to talk to him about two things. The first is that she is nervous right now because this is her first phone call with him. The second is that she may possibly be playing in a basketball game next week and is wondering whether he can make it or not. Although she said that she only called him to tell him two things, she goes on to tell him two more. She reveals that Nakajima had once confessed to her but she rejected him, explaining why she looked so embarrassed when the two of them saw each other at the baseball game the other day. Secondly, she also asks Makoto on a date, claiming that it is hard for her to navigate through the booths at the summer festival at her age. Lame excuse but it surprisingly worked.
The next morning, Makoto walks into the kitchen and suddenly comes face to face with Yashiro who is currently eating breakfast. Along with Meme, Yashiro starts laughing when Makoto makes an extremely annoyed face at the two of them. As Meme leaves the kitchen, Makoto follows her and asks her if having Yashiro here is all right. It turns out that the reason why Meme allowed Yashiro to stay here is because she reminded her of Elliot (most likely because of the similar hair color). Later in the day, Makoto is unfortunately given the task of returning Yashiro back to her home. On the way, he drops Erio off at work, promising her that he will come back later and visit the owner with her. While on their way towards her house, Yashiro suddenly forces Makoto to stop the bicycle because she spots a pool (which she calls a pond). After seeing her quickly climbing the fence and jumping in, Makoto decides to go home. However, right when he reaches his bicycle, a waterfall appears out of nowhere, drenching him. After watching her enjoy herself for a while longer, Makoto can't help but climb the fence and jump in himself. At sunset, the Makoto drops Yashiro off at a random shed, which she apparently lives at, and leaves for Tamura Market. When he gets there, he tells Erio about going to the pool today, causing her to also want to go. After hearing this, he promises her that he will take her next time. The episode ends with Makoto commenting on Erio's tan, which I didn't notice. According to the next episode title, it will include, Ryuuko, Yashiro, Erio and Meme. Looking forward to it.
