Kokoro Connect - Episode 9

It's hard to choose between Yui, Himeko, and Iori...

Now the "kizu" part of the arc's name makes a whole lot more sense to me. Contrary to popular belief, it appears that hurting and being hurt is a healthy part of any relationship. Like they say, trials and tribulation are a natural part of life, and in the end, only serve to make us stronger and strengthen our relationships. And this is exactly what happened, starting with Taichi and Iori. On top of realizing that hurting each other (albeit not too much) was necessary (yes, it sounds weird, but it's true), Taichi also came to a revelation regarding his own personal struggles with his selfless/selfish actions. As unfortunate as it may sound, I have to agree that, when it comes down to it, every one of our actions is motivated by some form of potential self-gratification; it's just how humans are. Realizing the consequences of this problem and trying to minimize them is, as a result, of great importance—something that Taichi and Iori were fortunately able to do.

What followed was the long-awaited reunion of the club members. While Aoki's return was inevitable given he doesn't seem like someone who would hold grudges or overthink things, Yui's willingness to return to school, and the club, took me by surprise (although that's not to say I disliked it). Aside from the mostly comedic atmosphere in her room during her conversation with Aoki, it was also comforting to see her finally open up the door, not only to her physical shelter (i.e. her room), but her heart as well. With the way things are going, I won't be surprised if she ends up falling for Aoki later on. I think after she begins to realize how much he truly cares for her, will she then consider giving him a chance.

Not surprisingly, Himeko is the only one who doesn't join in on the celebratory binge eating (which was quite funny considering how the desire unleashing was used in an amusing way). Given her personality, I don't think she'll be willing to return to the club room any time soon. And even when Heartseed paid her a personal visit, I had doubts regarding whether he'd be able to put a dent in Himeko's armour. Little did I know, the hidden knowledge that he possessed was more than enough to do so. It took only a few words, but he was able to shake his target to the core, which was especially surprising given it's Himeko we're talking about here. His mention of "that place" definitely piqued my interest as I'm now curious to find out just what he's referring to and why Himeko's mental state started faltering after she found out that he knew about it. Something tells me it has to do with her implied crush on Taichi and how she doesn't want to hurt Iori by giving in to her selfish desires (note the bolded words). The next episode preview seems to focus on this particular issue as Iori and Himeko can be seen arguing, with tears in their eyes. With the climax of the arc coming in next week's instalment (probably), I'll be waiting anxiously for it.
