Ano Natsu de Matteru - Episode 7

\(^∀^)メ(^∀^)ノ

Seven episodes in and things are just getting started. The relationship web now seems less tangled and messy, Lemon is still trolling everyone and it seems Ichika's going to run into some problems in the near future given that Rinon is acting strangely now. The romance aspect of this show is being handled quite well. Both the Kaito x Ichika and Tetsurō x Mio pairings took big steps in this episode, resulting in a couple of beautiful (pseudo-)confession scenes. In a way, this all happened thanks to Kaori and Chiharu, even though they seemed to have caused unnecessary drama. Without their appearance, who knows how long the four people involved in the two aforementioned pairings would have waited for until one took the initiative to make a move?

Of the two new girls, I felt that Kaori handled her situation more gracefully and maturely. Instead of refusing to give up when she saw that her chances were slim, she accepted defeat and moved on, probably fighting back some tears, holding her head high. For that, I respect her actions and wish her the best. I also hope that she'll show up in the future episodes since she's my second favorite character of the series, below Lemon. Chiharu, on the other hand, utterly annoyed me. Her constant clinging to Tetsurō, even when he showed slight signs of irritation (he's too nice to tell her that she's annoying, probably), as well as her high-pitched screech of a voice, has rendered her to be my least favorite character of the series. Also, the way she handled knowing Mio likes Tetsurō was very childish. Purposely ridiculing and trying to humiliate someone in front of their crush is definitely disrespectful. It's a good thing that Mio got that huge burden off her chest with Tetsurō's support. Furthermore, for someone shy like her to be able to confess, it says a lot about how true her feelings are. To sum it all up: more Kaori, less Chiharu, please.

Like always, Lemon's trolling was a pleasure to watch. Today's lucky victim turned out to be Kanna. After drugging her with what looked to be an alcoholic beverage, Lemon managed to get Kanna to cosplay and spill what's currently on her mind, resulting in valuable video footage. And if that wasn't good enough, she ends up recording a drunken Kanna stopping a kiss between Kaito and Ichika from happening; that was both disappointing and amusing. The events in this episode have amplified my desire to see the finished product. Knowing Lemon, there'll probably be some heavy editing done on the raw footage. However, I have no doubt that the final film will be a masterpiece. All I hope for is that it's actually shown and not just used as a base for the story. As for the next episode, it's going to be the typical "summer festival" episode. I highly doubt it'll be able to top this one, but we'll see...
