Ano Natsu de Matteru - Episode 4
Apparently, the past four episodes were just part of the prologue. Now the question is whether a good story can fit into the remaining eight episodes without any noticeable rushing. It doesn't sound like an easy task to do, especially considering that even 12 episodes are, at times, not enough for an anime to deliver a memorable story. But at the same time, the chances of the story being dragged on should be lower.
The intricate relationship web is more or less established right now. Characters' feelings were made more obvious in this episode, particularly Ichika's. It is no longer a question whether she has feelings for Kaito or not, but if she'll be able to express these feelings of hers. Not knowing if the relationship is mutual and the fact that she'll supposedly need to leave the town soon are preventing her from making a decision. The similar hypothetical situations given by Kaito and Ichika in this episode, on top of being amusing, further confirmed their concern for their relationship with each other.
Judging by the reflective words said by Kaito and Ichika at the end of the episode, I expect there to be a part of melancholy and depression sometime later. Ichika stating that she'll eventually have to leave the town adds to the strength of my claim. I wouldn't be surprised if a Kaito x Ichika ending doesn't happen. However, I will be disappointed since the two are such a great match. The other complicated relationship is the love triangle consisting of Kanna, Tetsurō and Mio. The preferable ending for me would be Tetsurō x Mio. It's unlikely that Kanna will give up her one-sided love and, if Mio manages to hammer this fact into Tetsurō, she may be able to attain happiness. Outside the intricate relationship web are Lemon and Rinon - the best characters of the show, oddly enough.
Strangely enough, there hasn't been much progress on the filming (unless Lemon is secretly capturing valuable footage, unbeknownst to the viewers). The dialogue in the preview for the next episode sounds like an excerpt from a movie script, so I'm hoping that there'll be some actual filming being shown. I'm quite pleased with the lack of sci-fi content right now; Ichika's teleporting was funny, though. I'll be patiently awaiting the time when her identify gets revealed.
