Scared? You better be |
Not what I expected in terms of drama but still an excellent episode overall. Unfortunately, Kou still doesn't meet Ohana yet due to some miscommunication but the few bits of Tohru x Ohana made up for it. Personally, I would prefer Kou x Ohana and Tohru x Minko because Tohru x Ohana would most likely leave Kou and Minko extremely depressed or angry. That aside, the way the staff (with the exception of Takako and Jiroumaru-san) came together in order to get over this huge hurdle really showed the desire for success in each one of them. The final scene with the landlady returning was, in my opinion, the most heartwarming scene of the series so far. Hope there will be more of the same in the future.
After interrupting the wedding reception of a couple's wedding that Tohru isn't attending, Ohana decides to ask the receptionists for the guest list. However, the receptionists tell her that the guest list is not to be shown to anyone. Not knowing what to do now, Ohana decides to search all the rooms in the building, in hopes of finding Tohru in one of them. While running, one of her slippers break, causing her to fly into a nearby bush. The aftermath of this fall included some scratches and a bloody nose. Soon after the incident, she enters the stairs area of the building to avoid causing any more trouble. Meanwhile, the staff at Kissui Inn are shown to be very busy with the large number of guests. While on duty, Nako receives a phone call from Ohana, who told her to ask Minko for any information that may help in the search for Tohru. After finding out that it is a classmate's wedding, Nako relays that information to Ohana. Although this piece of information narrows the possible rooms down just a bit, it will still be difficult to find Tohru in time. After a while of thinking about what to do, Ohana receives a phone call from Kou, almost causing her to drop her phone. After learning about the whole situation, Kou gives Ohana some words of encouragement, assuring her that everything will be fine. His words seem to have been effective as Ohana suddenly becomes optimistic, thanking him for his encouragement. After helping her solve her problem, Kou asks Ohana where she is right now; most likely wanting to meet her. Ohana tells him that she is in the city right now which is unfortunate news for him as he is currently on a train to the countryside. Back at the inn, the notebook that Ohana took from her grandmother's room has just proven its worth as Nako learns that one of the customers' daughter is allergic to fish, giving her time to tell the kitchen staff about it. Now back to the wedding hall, Ohana, with a newfound energy in her, runs around to different wedding receptions and asks for the ages of the bride and groom in hope being able to find someone who is close to Tohru's age. As this method is slow, Ohana decides to, once again, ask the receptionists, this time for the list of ages instead of the guest list. In the end, someone contacts Tohru and tells him that someone is looking for him. With her mission now complete, Ohana faints from fatigue, falling into Tohru's arms.
Meanwhile, Kou has just arrived at Yunosagi, the place where Kissui Inn is in. After looking at the train schedule and realizing that the next train to the city isn't due in 40 minutes, he gets a call from an overly energetic Ohana, thanking him for everything. Relived to know that Ohana and Tohru are just fellow workers in Kissui Inn, he decides to call the inn in hopes that he will see her there. Unfortunately, the large number of customers present has left the inn with no vacancies available. As for Tohru and Ohana, they are now making their way back via motorcycle, with Tohru driving and Ohana holding on to him tightly. Coincidentally, the two friends pass each other unnoticed as Kou is on a train back to the city while Ohana is on Tohru's motorcycle back to the countryside. I can't help but feel that Kou has just lost his chances with Ohana. After returning to the kitchen in Kissui Inn, Tohru immediately gets to work, following the orders of Ren who seems to be relieved by the returning of his excellent sous-chef. At that moment, the gears start turn as the staff of Kissui Inn are all working hard to satisfy the guests. As for Takako and Jiroumaru-san, their plans to give better service to the suspected reporter(s) fail miserably as the rest of the staff make sure to enforce the landlady's "treat all customers equally" way of work. While all the guests seemed to enjoy their stay, one man had to unfortunately sit through horrible dancing from Jiroumaru-san. In the end, Kissui Inn's Longest Day Ever" (title of the episode) was no problem for its hardworking and diligent staff.
The next day, after some of the customers check out, the staff reflect on their efforts and feel confident enough in their service that the top spot on the rankings magazine is within their reach. In one particular room, Ohana helps an elderly woman and her daughter pack their luggage. During their conversation, the elderly woman mentions that her daughter's work is her reason for being here. However, her daughter then scolds her, making her remember that she wasn't supposed to tell any of the staff that. Maybe Ohana didn't quite catch the significance of that but as for me, I'm quite sure that the daughter of the elderly woman is the reporter for the onsen ranking magazine. After she finishes her work, Ohana decides to send a text message to Kou, once again thanking him for everything. On the receiving end of the message, Kou, who seems to be currently working at a part-time job, takes some time to read and think about Ohana's text. However, his thoughts are quickly disturbed by his co-worker who asks him about something work-related. This co-worker of his will most likely play a huge role in Kou and Ohana's relationship. Back at Kissui Inn, the staff members have just gathered in the staff room to eat together after a extremely long day yesterday. Midway through eating Enishi comes in and announces to everyone that the landlady has just come back. As the landlady steps out of the car that drove her back, she is surprised to see all the staff standing in front of the inn. A chorus of "okaerinasai, okami-san" is followed by a soft "tadaima", ending what I believe to be the most heartwarming scene of the series. The next episode will most likely make Tohru x Ohana fans rejoice as the preview indicates some more bonding between the two. Looking forward to it.
